Haripad Masterplan
The plan focuses on Comprehensive development of Haripad Constituency to elevate tourism as an instrument promoting for overall socio-economic development.
There are six major project proposals namely, Pandi Eco – Retreat, Kumarakodi literary tourism project, Farm Tourism Circuit and Hub at Nelpurakadavu, Pilgrim Tourism Hub around the Nagaraja Temple and Subrahmanya Swamy Temple, Aqua Leisure Zone at Valiyazheekal and Snake boats have been identified and detailed. Apart from these major proposals, numerous proposals for micro-destination development, tourism circuit development, environmental improvement, tourism and other infrastructure development, tourism product development, heritage conservation, sanitation and waste management, community empowerment, destination management and marketing of products have also been identified.
The main components are:-
- Up gradation and beautification of roads/walkways with eco-friendly paving and landscape using indigenous flora maintaining the overall rusticity
- Development of delineated walkways
- Rejuvenation of existing Boat Jetties
- Proposal for new Jetties at strategic locations
- Creating accommodation units Integrated with existing habitation units; developed with international facilities
- Construction of Night shelters on stilts over paddy fields
- Appropriate lighting of the project area using solar lighting
- Night lighting of pathways
- Appropriate signage’s at strategic locations
- Boardwalk along the periphery; kiosks and gazebos with refreshment shops at strategic locations
- Facilities for fishing
- Interpretation Centre for the Pandi Bird Sanctuary
- Bird watching facilities for enthusiasts; informative display boards with details of species
- Night halt terminal for house boats
- Projects for Infrastructural Development
- Projects for Community Empowerment
