Urban Market Under UIDSSMT Scheme
As per the UIDSSMT scheme, the renewal of the urban markets were undertaken in 2013. The major markets of 13 municipalities had undergone renovation- namely Neyyattinkara, Palakkad, Tirur, Attingal, North Paravoor, Payyannur, Irinjalakuda, chittur, etc. The markets have been designed in such a way as to act as a modern mall or souk where a family can have a shopping experience with several added facilities and incidents. The contemporary form will be an amalgamation of indoor and outdoor spaces to sheltering a multitude of activities that invite the mass of the city. The market will encompass the main vegetable/fish bazaar in retail and wholesale, convenience stores, food court, kids’ play area, other shops, offices and parking.
