Department of Tourism, Government of Kerala is undertaking Continuous Tourist Survey to assess profile, expenditure , preferences of Tourists etc visiting Kerala for three years (2009-2012). For this, consortium of Datamation Consultants Newdelhi and  GITPAC International, Thiruvananthapuram has been appointed as the  consultants for the execution of  Continuous tourists Survey for the three consecutive years starting from 2009-10 to 2011-2012. The role of GITPAC International includes

  • Preparing questionnaires for survey
  • Back end Data Validation
  • Data Analysis
  • Report Preparation and Presentation

Following surveys are being undertaken :

  • Survey of Tourists (Foreign Tourists, Domestic Tourists and Pilgrim Tourists)
  • Survey of Day visitors
  • Survey at generating markets
  • Survey of Tourism Accommodation units
  • Survey of Tourism Service Providers within and outside Kerala

For the smooth conduct of survey surveyors were placed in all the 14 districts. Questionnaires for  conducting  surveys  were given and The survey will give an authentic data on the profile, expenditure pattern, destinations visited, preferences of Tourists etc  and also data  from tourism accommodation units and Tourism Service providers regarding the general information on the firm/ property, total number of employees under different categories, occupancy, tariff, packages provided etc

The continuous Tourist Survey in turn would help the state in the formulation of appropriate policies for the tourism sector, enable Tourism satellite accounting and provide sufficient background information for the destination development planning process.
