Kalady- Malayatoor- Athirapilly and Kodanad are destinations of four different characteristic facets. The religious zenith of Malayatoor, the splendid edification of Kalady, the colossal cascade of Athirapilly and the mammalian profusion of Kodanad together blends into a divergent mix of panoramas.  The locale currently only entertains a nominal footfall due to the paucity of tourist infrastructures in these areas. Even under these conditions, a large number of tourists visit the area every year. Developing these areas as ‘Nature-Based Tourism Circuit’ will be a boost to Kerala Tourism without affecting the ecology/nature.

The project involves the development of a nature-based tourism circuit by connecting the natural and cultural assets of Thrissur and Ernakulam District. The circuit covers a waterfall and two culturally significant sites. This will help the tourist experience all the aspects of nature from the landscapes and water streams to the culture and livelihood of the local population. The destinations in the circuit are selected in such a way that it creates excitement to all age groups. The circuit thus can be developed further to facilitate more controlled tourism development activities and infrastructure through the Swadesh Darshan Scheme.
