Kurisumala is one of the most prominent pilgrim centers in South India. It is situated Kerala, in the Diocese of Neyyattinkara. The word Kurisumala literally means Mount of the Cross. It lies about three thousand feet (more than 900 m) above the sea level on the Western Ghats. The scenic beauty and serenity make this mount most suited for prayer meditation and spiritual experience.

The event sees an inflow of pilgrims from different religious and ethnic backgrounds. Believers converge from parts of Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh to participate in the event.  Most of the domestic pilgrims hail from Kerala and Tamil Nadu, while those from Andhra Pradesh are less in comparison to the other two states.

The development aims at providing a tourist amenity space incorporating minor public felicities and landscape modifications.
